چکیده

Background The greater saphenous vein is commonly used in coronary revascularization. Beside classical methods of vein harvesting, endoscopic technique is applied. The introduction of endoscopic vein harvesting remains still controversial and therefore needs some more data resulting from application of this method. This study was performed to investigate the influence of endoscopic and open saphenous vein harvesting techniques on shortand mid-term effects on the lower limb after coronary artery bypass grafting.

Comparison of therapeutic results of large saphenous vein resection with conventional methods and standard bridging

Background: The use of the traditional method for saphenous vein harvesting is associated with wound complications and not on-time patient mobilization. This has caused the improvement of minimally invasive vein harvesting techniques, together with general bridging. This study was designed to compare the therapeutic results of...

Comparative results of endoscopic and open methods of vein harvesting for coronary artery bypass grafting: a prospective randomized parallel-group trial

BACKGROUND We compared wound complications between endoscopic and open great saphenous vein harvesting for coronary artery bypass surgery. METHODS A total of 228 consecutive patients were prospectively randomized into two groups: open vein harvesting (OVH), 115 patients; and endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH), 113 patients. Each group was assessed for post-operative wound complications, pain in...

Open versus endoscopic saphenous vein harvesting: wound complications and vein quality.

BACKGROUND The saphenous vein is an important conduit for coronary artery bypass grafting. Wound complications from traditional open vein harvesting occur often. Minimally invasive endoscopic saphenous vein harvesting may decrease wound complications. Vein quality may be an issue with endoscopic harvesting. METHODS We reviewed 568 patients who had bypass grafting and saphenous vein harvesting...

Endoscopic Saphenous harvesting with an Open CO2 System (ESOS) trial for coronary artery bypass grafting surgery: study protocol for a randomized controlled trial

BACKGROUND In coronary artery bypass grafting surgery, arterial conduits are preferred because of more favourable long-term patency and outcome. Anyway the greater saphenous vein continues to be the most commonly used bypass conduit. Minimally invasive endoscopic saphenous vein harvesting is increasingly being investigated in order to reduce the morbidity associated with conventional open vein ...

A systematic review of cost-effectiveness evidence of endoscopic saphenous vein harvesting: is it efficient?

OBJECTIVE Greater saphenous vein harvest for coronary and lower extremity bypass requires the longest incision of any surgical procedure. Endoscopic vein harvest allows better results in some clinical variables compared to open harvesting techniques. The objective of this study is to present the results of a systematic review of the scientific evidence about the efficiency of endoscopic sapheno...
